Most people don’t carry around a lot of cash these days. We’ve all got our wallets and purses stuffed with credit cards, debit cards, loyalty cards, cash-back cards, gift cards – you name it and there’s probably a plastic card for it!
But cash can come in very handy – and it can often save you a lot of money.
The trouble with plastic is that it just about always leaves a trail. Someone somewhere (or a lot of someones) will know what you bought, where you bought it, how much it cost and probably what you did with it when you got home!
It’s pretty Big Brother isn’t it? Does anyone else think it’s scary when you go to a grocery website and they suggest what you want to buy – based on what you bought in the store last week? They know what kind of biscuits you like, the type of soap you use and probably how often you wash your hair. They’ve built up a picture of you, their customer, and they’ll sell that picture on to other companies.
It’s called Big Data and it’s worth big money to every company who wants some of your money.
But if you use cash, no-one has a clue what you’ve bought. Haha – cheat the system – keep your privacy and stop the marketers in their tracks!
